Derek’s story
Derek Foss spent his twenties dispatching trucks for a freight yard on the edge of the Valley, sorting out which drivers could handle a summer route and which loads needed an early start to beat the heat. Years of that work left him with one conviction: showing up with muscle is easy. Showing up prepared for a gate nobody warned you about is the part that separates movers.
A fair price, in his view, comes down to somebody actually confirming the HOA’s paperwork, walking the driveway grade, and writing a number that survives contact with a guard gate nobody mentioned on the phone.
Every family had the same complaint about their last mover: a low number on the phone, a different one once the truck was already stuck outside a gate it never should have approached blind. I bought a truck in 2011 to fix that. — Derek Foss, owner

How the crew came together
Every hire came when the calendar actually needed one, not before.
- 2011: Derek buys his first truck and sets the flat, per-truck hourly rate the company still runs on
- 2014: Anthony Reyes joins and becomes the crew’s go-to for gated estates and foothill lots
- 2015: Melissa Cordero takes over the front office and starts writing every estimate herself
- 2016: Cody Winter comes aboard, focused on Old Town’s older homes and narrow alleys
- 2017: Nathan Ruiz moves into dispatch, mapping routes around Loop 101 and snowbird-season traffic
- 2018: Priya Nair joins for storage coordination as a fourth truck joins the fleet
What an outside crew tends to miss
A crew driving in from outside the Valley reacts to the property as they find it. Ours plans for it days ahead.
- Gate codes and HOA paperwork get confirmed before a truck is ever routed toward Paradise Valley
- Foothill driveway grade and retaining-wall clearance get checked ahead of moving day, not discovered on it
- Old Town’s alleys and doorframes get measured before the crew tries to muscle through anything oversized
- A delayed closing or a shifted snowbird date means storage, not a truck sitting idle with nowhere to go
